The Call for Abstracts for the Sports, Medicine and Health Summit 2027 is now open. Submit your research, projects and perspectives and contribute to the scientific programme of SMHS.

The Programme Committee invites you to present current topics from sport, sports medicine, health and science, and to contribute to interdisciplinary exchange. The SMHS brings together a scientific congress, continuing education events, health policy and popular science sessions, and networking meetings. Take this opportunity to present your work to an international, interdisciplinary audience and to contribute to advancing knowledge and practice in the field.

Researchers, sports physicians, therapists, coaches and other professionals who wish to share current knowledge in sport, medicine and health.

For which topics can abstracts be submitted?

Abstracts can be submitted on the following thematic focus areas. Interdisciplinary and practice‑oriented contributions are expressly welcome.

1. Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation
2. Prevention & Health Promotion
3. Performance Diagnostics & Training Management
4. Clinical Context
5. Technological Innovations in Sport and Medicine
6. Specific Health Topics in Sport
7. Basic & Translational Sports Medicine
8. Open Topic

For submission, we require the following information:

  • Title of the abstract
  • Abstract of max. 400 words
  • Preferred presentation format: oral presentation, poster presentation or poster
  • Topic
  • Details of up to eight co-authors
  • Language of submission: German or English (the presentation will be delivered in the language of submission). In exceptional cases, the Programme Committee reserves the right to change the language of presentation.
  • Conflicts of interest: Disclosure of personal relationships with commercial entities and any other potential conflicts of interest. These arise in particular where authors hold stakes in companies or receive financial contributions from them.

Submission guidelines

  • Preference will be given to submissions containing original data. Review articles will be considered if they have been conducted systematically. Case studies may also be submitted.
  • Please adhere to the following structure: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion, Take-Home Message (max. 2 sentences for clinical/practical application).
  • The methodological approach (including statistical methods used) must be presented in a transparent and comprehensible manner.
  • Discussion and conclusions should be closely aligned with the results.
  • Avoid highlighting "trends" where statistical significance is lacking.
  • Avoid the use of capitalisation and abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the body text provided they are defined upon first use.
  • Figures and tables cannot be included.
  • Please ensure that your submission is free of spelling and grammatical errors, as it will be published exactly as submitted.

Review process

  • All submitted abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by at least two independent reviewers.
  • Following the review process, authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by e-mail by the end of 2026.
  • The number of oral presentations is limited. Should a submission not be accepted as a oral presentation, it will be reviewed for inclusion as a poster presentation or poster.
  • Submitting an abstract does not replace registration as a congress participant. The registration fee must be paid no later than upon acceptance of your abstract.
  • Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
  • By submitting an abstract, you consent to your abstract being published.

How can abstracts be submitted?

1. Registration

Create an account and activate it. Select the appropriate fee for your circumstances and register for the Summit. Payment of the fee may be made at a later date and is not required at the point of submission.
